The enigmatic Rosslyn Chapel in Edinburgh, Scotland, has attracted untold hordes of alternative history sleuths over the years, searching for treasure and the Holy Grail. This small, family chapel from the 15th Century is suspected of holding clues to a wealth of secrets that connect the Knights Templars to secret societies that are collectively known as Freemasonry and Rosicrucianism.

Much of the current interest in the site was promulgated by Dan Brown, author of the highly successful The DaVinci Code, and its subsequent tales of mystery and skullduggery in the European theater of the Catholic Church. No less than Tom Hanks has starred in the film versions of Brown’s books, and it’s fair to say the whole “DaVinci Code Empire” is worth billions.

After all these decades of sleuthing, it would seem that whatever was there to be studied has already been picked apart, but I wouldn’t be writing this if I didn’t think I had something new to offer.
