In Parts I thru III of this illustrious series, I put forth the case that “Zionism” is a quest that goes back to the era of the Crusades, and that the vaunted Knights Templars were the original legion of Zionists. It was they who reclaimed Al-Aqsa, beginning in 1119, by restoring the compound, enhancing it with new buildings, and constructing a new church on the site, though that remained uncompleted.
