In Chapter 13, parts 5 and 6, I noted that much of Gaurico’s calculations weren’t always accurate. At least one of his contemporaries, Girolamo Cardano, said as much in public. It could be that Gaurico was simply not very interested in doing rigorous mathematical calculations, or it could be that he had . His charts for Byzantium, however, are examples of either laziness, carelessness, or are downright fraudulent.
