The Exaltation of the Washington National Cathedral

The Exaltation of the Washington National Cathedral

In light of the very dark reaction by the alleged patriotic and God-fearing christian nationalist MAGA movement that has been making death threats against the Episcopal Bishop of Washington, DC, Mariann Edgar Budde, I wanted to lay out my take on the astrological encoding of the locale in question – the Washington National Cathedral.

The cornerstone of the edifice was placed in a public ceremony, attended by then-President Teddy Roosevelt, on September 29, 1907 at noon. The dedication of the (mostly) completed structure was attended by then-president George H.W. Bush, exactly 83 years later on September 29, 1900, at noon.

As followers of this blog know, 83 years is the primary “Goal-Year” value for Jupiter, meaning that we can expect the Sun and Jupiter to return to their original zodiac positions every 83 years. A bi-wheel of these important cathedral moments shows Jupiter in almost exactly the same position in the tropical zodiac 83 years apart:

Figure 1

Why Jupiter? One little hypothesis is that Christianity itself is “ruled” by Jupiter, who is the Romanized Greek god Zeus; such has given way to vague claim that its namesake, “Jesus,” or “Iesous” if translated from the Greek, means “Hail Zeus.” The origin is more likely this. Still, there is no doubt that the primary Roman deity was not lost on the burgeoning Christian faith, and even picked up by those counter-reformationing Jesuits who were keen to be given Papal authority when Jupiter was exactly conjunct Regulus. Where other conjunction would we want Regulus, the “King Star,” to be in such a moment, other than with the planetary “king star”?1

83 Years

83 years is also the time elapsed between the creation of “modern” freemasonry in 1717 to the Federal Government’s occupation of the Federal City in 1800. It has been my contention that this particular cycle is encoded in the Washington Monument.

Table 1

Furthermore, if we keep going back at 83-year intervals of Sun/Jupiter conjunctions, we end up with the founding of the Roman Empire itself, as shown in Table 1.

If true that this Sun/Jupiter cycle was indeed so important, one may ask what happened in 1883 that would have fulfilled the ongoing observance of the cycle, and my answer would be that 1883 is the year the USA imposed another kind of dominance – not that of territory, but of time itself, completing a true temporal dominance – the imposition of time zones.

As for 1966? Well, that’s when I was born, and also my childhood friend Neal, on July 5. He became a noted classical music percussionist. Of course, I only amounted to being a professional clock-watcher.

All joke aside, though, there is a bit more to those Jupiter posits in those WNC charts.

Western Fixation on Astrological Exaltations

My career in astrology began as a dabbler, a hobbyist. As I began studying up on the history of the craft, I became fascinated with the astrological exaltations, and that road led me down the rabbit hole of deciphering the parameters of the exaltation of Mars.

The exaltations had been mostly a kind of enigmatic mystery in recent Western astrology, with the general thinking that exaltations of planets were directly related to zodiac signs. It wasn’t until Cyril Fagan wrote his master work, Zodiacs: Old And New,2 in the early 1950s, that the mystery of their origin had been cracked.

As it turned out, the degree-values of the planetary exaltations were related to hypsomata, or the phenomena of planets immersing and emerging from the solar aura; not only were they related to hypsomata, but it was a specific year in ancient history where those values happened. That year is 786 BC, known through the Limmu List as the year of the opening of the Temple of Nabu, with Nabu being a deity associated with the planet Mercury.

Fagan did the calculations, and came up with the following table:

Of course, this only works in a certain zodiac – a sidereal (fixed) zodiac – not the tropical zodiac common with Western astrologers. Fagan’s zodiac was anchored with two very prominent fixed stars: Aldebaran and Antares. Those two stars are all but perfectly in opposition in ecliptic longitude, and therefore anchor the Fagan zodiac at 15° of Taurus and Scorpio.

It should be said that there is no evidence of a 12-equal-sign zodiac in 786 BC. That development came about a few centuries later, perhaps. However, in 786 BC, there did exist constellations that mostly resemble the constellations we recognize today. After all, the stars have barely moved over the last 3000 years, and the brightest stars along the moon’s path were duly noted and identified in the ancient astronomical literature.

As it happens, some of those Nabu hypsomata do align with fixed stars (perhaps not as famous as brighter stars) that are very near the ecliptic – enough so that they were regularly occulted by the Moon.

Back to the Cathedral

In the case of Jupiter, whose exaltation is 15° of Cancer in the Fagan zodiac, that star is Asellus Australis, or the southern donkey, being nearby the nebula of the Presapae, meaning the “Manger.”

Therefore, when we take that cornerstone chart, convert to the Fagan zodiac, and add an outer ring of those exaltation-related stars, we see that Jupiter is at its own exaltation:

Figure 2

Furthermore, we can see that Mercury is also conjunct the star I have labeled “Por,” which stands for Porrima, the star of prophecy in Roman star lore. The exaltation degrees of Mercury and Jupiter are 60° distant, which is a sextile in astrology, named not for being sexy, but for being one-sixth of the way around the circle. The sextile puts us in the realm of the six-pointed star, the Star of David, and the hexagram.

As for the dedication chart from 1990, we can see that Jupiter has has moved backward a bit in terms of the Fagan zodiac, but is still conjunct Asellus Australis, but on the other side:

Figure 3

All of which begs the question: were the folks who build this cathedral not only Episcopalians, but also astrologers? If not, then this sure is a lucky astro-coincidence!

The Moon in the Cathedral

On July 21, 1974, five years after the first moon landing, the three astronauts that traveled in Apollo 11 went to the WNC and donated a moon rock to be placed in the “Space Window” of the cathedral.

I’m not going to bore you with the details of the ceremony, or with the intricacies of the symbolism of the stained glass art, full of orbs and tangents, and more sacred geometry than you can shake a stick at. Instead, the Moon position of the cornerstone chart needs to be put in perspective. After all, if we assume the Mercury and Jupiter posits were elected, then the Moon’s posit should also be related to something.

As best as I can tell, the cornerstone chart’s Moon fits best in one of my theoretical charts – the horoscope for the advent of the Knights Templar, at the temple itself, on St. John’s Day, 1119:

Figure 4

As I pointed out in my series on Zionism, the Sun in this particular Templar chart is conjunct the fixed star Castor of Gemini. Not only were the Templar’s given the livery stables as a headquarters for their knightly order, they also developed a symbolism of two men on one horse. Those two men, as I see it, represent Castor and Pollux, the twins; Castor in mythology is the twin that has exceptional equestrian skills.

What does the WNC have to do with those Templars? In simple terms, I tend to see the USA as a kind of vassal of the underground Templar Protestantism that gave us the Anglican Church, and then its USA wing – the Episcopal Church.

Many historic milestones of the USA’s creation bear elective dates and alignments that can only make sense if we connect them to the Templars. First and foremost is the date of the cornerstone of the White House itself – October 13. Also, I would add, was the choice of commencing the Federal Constitution on a March 4, as March 4 of 1215 was the day that King John became a Knight Templar. In fact, if we draw up a bi-wheel for those events, we see a very curious interactions of Jupiters and ascendants:

Figure 5

And if I haven’t made a Pegasus’ Asellus out of myself yet, we now turn to the local-space alignment of the WNC.

19.5

Yes, the angle that the WNC is offset to the east-west longitude parallel is 19.5°. If it’s not, it sure is very close. I have searched and searched for any kind of documentation that the spine of the cathedral was to be platted precisely at the angle of 19.5°, but I cannot find any such record. Yet, the tools of the modern computer era suggest that this angle is indeed factual. The following undated site map from the WNC archives now stored at the National Building Museum shows us the angle in relation to the north-south axis:

When I put the map in Photoshop and rotate to 19.5°, the cathedral axis becomes horizontal:

We can also see the angle using Google Maps, which has an azimuth tool:

Before moving on, I do want to point out that the central axis of the building itself is on a very slight curve. I did speak briefly with a curator many years ago about this, and he said that this was done on purpose, to add sense of depth for a person who is entering from the western doorway. The rendering above shows this.

So, the question is, why? Cathedrals of the old Gothic era were almost always aligned east-west, for the very serious reason that the rising sun at the vernal equinox would shine straight down the the length of the building. But, this one is different, and so we must find a reason.

What else in DC is at that angle? Pennsylvania Avenue, for one, and along with Connecticut Avenue, radiate out from the Capitol Building at 19.5° angles.

Also, the statue atop the Capitol, the Statue of Freedom, is precisely 19.5 feet tall. When the USA inaugurates Presidents, it happens on the statutorily-proscribed date of January 20 at noon, which is exactly 19.5 days into the new year. The most likely explanation for repetitive demonstrations of the 19.5 is with platonic solids, and how they fit in a sphere. A tetrahedron will have tangential contact with the sphere’s surface at 19.4712…° in the longitudinal, if one point is at the pole:

The relevance of this in the real, physical world can be seen with anomalous upwells of energy in planets in our own solar system, starting with Earth itself, and its tallest volcano, Mauna Loa:

https://www.joanocean.com/Hyperdimensional.html

In geometry, the respective equation is:

sin 19.47122… = 0.3333333….

Therefore, the distance in longitudinal angle between the pole and the tangent would be 109.5° (90° + 19.5° = 109.5°), and that number should ring a bell as it relates to the year that the Pope called for the Crusades: 1095. Without those Crusades, there would be no Knights Templar, and quite possibly a far different political situation in the Western Hemisphere. That is, if you accept my little thesis that the USA is just the biggest Templar State on the planet, bent on empire, revenge, and all the triumph and tragedy that goes along with the lower-chakra greed and fear of men.

And, from there, maybe no need for an Episcopal Bishop to beseech a clearly mentally ill Mango Mussolini to stop being so cruel to the weak, vulnerable, and marginalized. After all, only bullies, small people, and cowards punch down.
