In Part I we learned that the Washington Monument encodes historic astrological alignments via the shape of its design and its symbolic moment of dedication. It does so through the pyramidion at the top which is based on the Golden Mean value, and is shaped to parallel the Sun’s culminating altitude on certain dates – dates that also feature solar conjunctions to prominent fixed stars that were equidistant to the summer solstice point of 0° Cancer in the year 1800.

Remembering that the WM slope is 72°38’37”, we can create this table of values:

Why would Procyon be important?

Procyon, the alpha star of the “Little Dog,” follows Orion with the “Big Dog,” Sirius. My dear old friend John Ballantrae always thought that there were two different charts for USA independence — one for the larger state and people, and another for the ruling elite. This is from an email he sent me in 2013:

Here is the actual chart data for the adoption of “The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America” [there are no substitutes]: Please do not confuse this “unanimous Declaration”, being the actual and official Declaration of Independence, with ”A Declaration of the Representatives of the United States of America in General Congress Assembled”, which first appeared in public on July 5, 1776. This, the earlier unratified version, is the Declaration of Independence for which there is no original document retained therefore no signatures in evidence. This broadside edition was intended as a propaganda instrument delivered by the voice of the “Representatives” without the formal concurrence of the governors of the 13 colonies. The actual Declaration of Independence, of July 15, 1776, became America’s first state (official) paper and constitutes the voice of the “states”, which 13 variously ratified the declaration prior to year end 1776.

Indeed John was correct. The New York delegation to the Continental Congress did not affix their requisite signatures to the Declaration until July 15. This dangling factoid was brought up in an essay by William J. Ritz, in which he hypothesizes that the original broadside that was printed up right after July 4 was altered to include “of the thirteen united” in the headline after the New York delegates made unanimity of thirteen states.

As it happens, July 15 of 1776 was the date of a solar eclipse, and it was conjunct Procyon, the Little Dog:

These charts are drawn up for the moment of conjunction at the location of Philadelphia. A couple of other circumstances are noteworthy: our old friend “77 Leo” shows up yet again on the ascendant; also, the value of 23°30′ may draw a parallel to the axial tilt of the Earth itself – ~23.5°.

Whether this was astrologically planned is not known, but John Ballantrae always insisted that there were really two charts for the USA – one for the masses, and one for the elite from a certain secret society with roots in London. Well, in actuality, there are three charts….

Astrologers tend to assume that the “birth” chart for the USA must be the 4th of July in 1776, because, well, the document has that date. However, documents such as the Declaration are much like letters of intent in the modern world. The vote and the unanimity of intent may be the moments that really matter; the dating of July 4 may have just been a cryptic message in and of itself, as anyone in the palaces of certain foreign nations could deduce it as a freemasonic effort.

Therefore, in this sense, any particular “time” for a chart for July 4 is moot in terms of this astrological notion that the USA began at some moment, and planetary transits to that moment will forever after impact the lives of billions of people.

What of the Sun’s conjunction to Aldebaran on May 27, 1776?

Something about a military parade and local Native American nations:

Twenty-one Iroquois came to meet with Congress in May of 1776. For over a month, they would observe the operations of the Continental Congress and its president, John Hancock, as they lodged on the second floor of the Pennsylvania State House (now called Independence Hall). On May 27, 1776, Richard Henry Lee reported that the American army had a parade of two to three thousand men to impress the Iroquois with the strength of the United States. Four tribes of the Six Nations viewed the parade, and Lee hoped “to secure the friendship of these people.” Newspaper accounts stated that Generals Washington, Horatio Gates and Thomas Mifflin, “the Members of Congress…and…the Indians…on business with the Congress” reviewed the troops.

The Big Clock

In any event, this Procyon alignment may explain why the Washington Monument’s architectural arithmetic is a tad off of the ideal phi value of a 72° slope versus the actual 72°38’37”. The skew, however, does tell us to hold both the ideal and the real in the same hand simultaneously.

We know there was a very public and ceremonial cornerstone-laying ceremony for the Washington Monument on July 4, 1848. This is precisely 72 years past 1776.

Yet, the astro-mathematics of the WM surrounding July 4 has to do with a historical picture that transcends the freemasons or even the so-called “new world.” A default noon chart for this cornerstone ceremony (which was symbolic only; the actual placement took place on a different day) is as follows:

Here we can see that the ecliptic values of the fixed stars have notched about one degree since 1776, as precession of the equinoxes moves about one degree every 72 years, giving us an approximate cycle of 25,920 years. The modern, scientifically estimated value is ~25,771.4 years.

In this chart, the Sun aligns on the meridian within one degree of the values of Sirius and Vega. Lyra, of which Vega is the alpha star, as mentioned in previous posts, is the likely constellational iconography for Thomson’s Great Seal motif:

Jupiter and July 4

Some quick math tells us that 1800 is 24 years beyond 1776, and we do find Jupiter returning to the astrological sign of Cancer, where it was in 1776, and then making a conjunction with the Sun on July 5. It should be noted here that the disk of the Sun actually passes over Jupiter, as Jupiter is near its own node. The measurements are rather precise:

The reason these Sun/Jupiter values align so nicely is due to the very special cyclic connection between the Sun, Earth and Jupiter. Every 83 years, the Sun and Jupiter return to the same place in the tropical zodiac within an error of about 0°01′ of arc across the splay of possible conjunctions. The ancients were aware of this cycle, and similar cycles of other planets; so were expert astrologers in the 18th century, obviously. This cycle is encoded in the Washington National Cathedral‘s cornerstone and dedication dates, which is explained here.

This 83-year Sun/Jupiter cycle weaves in and throughout history well before the USA came along, and, if you might have guessed, it has connections to Freemasonry, both “Modern” (Anglo) and “Ancient” (Scottish), or what certain historians divide up between Rosicrucians and Templarists.

I’ve thrown a lot of information and charts up here, and it looks a bit overwhelming, but we are getting closer to fully understanding the astrological encoding of the Washington Monument and the USA’s place in history. The year 1800 is central to the story – the story of monumental time.
